Kaltura, the AI-powered Video Cloud, announced a new partnership with APTN (Aboriginal Peoples Television Network), Canada’s first national Indigenous broadcaster. Kaltura will power APTN lumi, the network’s on-demand streaming platform dedicated to bringing Indigenous content to audiences across Canada and around the world.
APTN has long been a trusted voice for sharing authentic First Nations, Inuit, and Métis stories through a diverse slate of original programming, including news, documentaries, drama series, and educational content. With the launch of APTN lumi, the network is extending its digital presence to further connect Indigenous communities and share cultural narratives with global viewers.
Powered by Kaltura’s comprehensive OTT video platform, APTN lumi delivers the largest curated collection of Indigenous-led content and Indigenous-language programming in a single destination. The platform is accessible via web and mobile, offering seamless access to rich, culturally rooted stories-anytime, anywhere.

The APTN lumi deployment also features integration with APTN’s existing CMS, video-on-demand support in multiple Indigenous languages, and infrastructure to support subscription-based access.
“For over 25 years, APTN’s mission has been to share Indigenous perspectives, stories and cultures through content created by and for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities,” said John Bauer, Director of Digital Media and IT at APTN. “We’re thrilled to partner with Kaltura to expand our reach and bring these voices to a broader audience.”
