SAP and Snowflake Power Enterprise AI with Business Data Fabric

Snowflake, the AI Data Cloud company, and SAP SE, a global leader in enterprise applications and business AI, announced a strategic collaboration that empowers organizations to unify Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud and SAP Business Data Cloud (SAP BDC). The partnership enables customers to work with semantically rich business data from SAP in Snowflake’s AI-powered data environment-unlocking powerful new insights, applications, and innovation opportunities.

Through this collaboration, Snowflake’s platform will be available as an SAP solution extension for customers of SAP Business Data Cloud, introduced as the SAP Snowflake solution extension for SAP Business Data Cloud. This new offering blends SAP’s expertise in vital business data with Snowflake’s AI and machine learning platform. This lets companies build, train, and deploy smart applications at scale.

The two companies are enabling zero-copy data sharing between SAP BDC and Snowflake. This cuts down on duplication and latency while ensuring full governance. This smooth integration helps customers see better business insights. It also speeds up AI-driven innovation and supports strong, intelligent applications for enterprises.

“By tightly integrating SAP and Snowflake, we’re making it simple for enterprises to connect their critical business data with its rich context in SAP with the power of seamless AI app and data agent development at scale in Snowflake,” added Christian Kleinerman, EVP of Product, Snowflake. “Enterprises can now innovate faster with Snowflake and SAP BDC and seamlessly share data between the platforms-zero-copy and fully governed.”

Expanding Openness and Choice for the Enterprise Data Ecosystem

SAP Snowflake extends the open data ecosystem of SAP Business Data Cloud, bringing Snowflake’s AI, analytics, data engineering, Marketplace, and collaboration capabilities into SAP’s business data fabric. This integration gives customers greater flexibility and openness while leveraging SAP’s trusted semantic models.

Organizations can now use SAP BDC with SAP Snowflake as a cloud-scale compute and storage extension—empowering teams to access and process semantically rich SAP and non-SAP data in real time. With bidirectional, zero-copy data access, data and AI teams can work within a unified governance framework, harmonizing datasets while optimizing total cost of ownership across workloads.

The result is a seamless environment for building AI agents, analytics, and intelligent applications within SAP Snowflake, all powered by trusted business data from SAP BDC.

“Bringing Snowflake to SAP Business Data Cloud empowers our customers with openness and choice,” said Irfan Khan, President and Chief Product Officer for SAP Data and Analytics, SAP SE. “Together, we combine SAP’s decades of leadership in mission-critical business applications with Snowflake’s modern data platform to deliver a unified, enterprise-ready, and SAP-supported experience that extends the value of business data across the entire ecosystem.”
