Commvault, a global leader in cyber resilience and data protection, has introduced a groundbreaking way to manage enterprise resilience – through natural conversation. Powered by the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, Commvault’s latest innovation enables users to interact with Commvault Cloud using popular GenAI assistants like OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise and Anthropic’s Claude, allowing them to configure, monitor, and execute resilience tasks through simple natural language exchanges. This conversational integration bridges the gap between complex enterprise systems and human-like AI interaction, enabling users to initiate and manage backups or recovery operations securely and efficiently within enterprise policy guardrails.

“With this kind of AI simplicity, we can spend less time managing routine backup jobs and more time thinking about how to strengthen our resilience strategy,” said Christopher N. Colla, VP of IT & CIO at B&G Foods. IDC’s Johnny Yu noted that Commvault’s approach “isn’t AI autonomy but rather optimizing the interface between the data protection tool and the human user.” Pranay Ahlawat, Chief Technology and AI Officer at Commvault, added that the company is “moving beyond conversational interfaces to enable agentic resilience” – ensuring data protection automation that is secure, transparent, and policy-driven within the NIST Risk Management Framework.
