Meta to Train its AI Model From Social Media Posts In Europe

Meta-backed Facebook plans to incorporate social media content from the European region to train its generative artificial intelligence models, according to a report by Reuters. Llama, the large language model (LLM) of Meta, will learn using the content shared by users publicly on platforms like Instagram and Facebook.

The paradigm shift appears to bring the organization’s approach in the European region in alignment with how it treats the information it feeds into its AI models compared to the rest of the world while being cautious about stringent EU privacy and transparency regulations.

The company announced last month that it would start sending notifications to users in the European region and the United Kingdom about how it would leverage the publicly shared data on different platforms owned by Meta to develop and improve AI.
