Walmart Strengthens Retail Media With Vibe.co Acquisition

Walmart

Retail giant Walmart Inc. and streaming advertising innovator Vibe.co have finalized a definitive acquisition agreement that is poised to fundamentally alter the retail media landscape. Under the terms of the transaction, Walmart will absorb Vibe.co’s specialized self-serve connected TV (CTV) advertising platform into Walmart Connect, the company’s rapidly expanding commerce media division.

The strategic acquisition is specifically engineered to democratize access to television streaming inventory, an advertising vertical that has historically required massive enterprise marketing budgets and complex administrative overhead. By embedding Vibe.co’s automated, user-friendly ad creation technology directly into the Walmart Connect ecosystem, the retailer intends to provide small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), emerging brands, and third-party marketplace sellers with frictionless, cost-effective access to premium television screens.

Unlocking Closed-Loop Attribution Across the Streaming Landscape

The integration represents a highly calculated evolution of Walmart’s digital marketing capabilities. By pairing Vibe.co’s rapid campaign activation engine with Walmart’s massive repository of omni-channel first-party customer insights, the combined asset seeks to deliver unprecedented attribution clarity to growth-stage merchants.

The unified infrastructure targets critical inefficiencies across the modern campaign lifecycle by delivering key operational advantages:

  • Removal of Decentralized Entry Barriers: Enables smaller businesses to launch high-impact television campaigns without navigating premium agency retainers or high monthly spending minimums.
  • Granular Purchase-Intent Optimization: Aligns dynamic streaming television placements directly with real-world consumer purchasing behaviors captured across Walmart’s physical stores and digital storefronts.
  • Full-Funnel Measurement Control: Synchronizes top-of-funnel brand discovery mechanics with verifiable, down-funnel sales conversions inside a single tracking interface.
  • Enterprise Ecosystem Interoperability: Enhances Walmart Connect’s growing media footprint—including its recently announced hardware-centric VIZIO infrastructure—to accelerate automated campaign optimization.

“Vibe.co was built as the self-serve platform for performance and ecommerce marketers to run streaming TV the way they run paid social: measurable, fast to launch, and optimized for better outcomes,” said Arthur Querou, Co-Founder and CEO, Vibe.co. “Joining Walmart gives us the opportunity to accelerate that mission and bring performance TV advertising to one of the most powerful commerce media ecosystems in the market.”

Preserving Collaborative, Open-Market Media Structures

This transaction is administered by a series of intentional adtech investments run by Walmart Connect since recent enterprise-level distribution and programmatic partnerships with Magnite, Yahoo DSP and Google DV360. Importantly, the corporate management reiterated that the new integration of structure would not create a closed-in, walled-garden environment.

Both companies will continue to operate within the open, competitive system of the integrated, open-market for publishers, independent broadcasters, supplyside platforms (SSPs) and other measurement networks.

The transaction is currently scheduled to close by the end of FY2027 and remains subject to customary closing conditions and antitrust approval under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act. As Walmart management, the acquisition will not have a material impact on the Company’s previously issued FY2027 guidance for sales and operating income..

Following the completion of the standard regulatory reviews, Vibe.co Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Arthur Querou, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Franck Tetzlaff, and the company’s existing technology and account management teams will transition directly into the Walmart Connect organization to oversee the platform integration.
