Before August 19, 2024, developers could not create Instagram reminder ads that used some features available via Meta Ads Manager but not via Marketing API. This lack of parity created unwanted friction for our partners and their customers who wanted to run reminder ads.
After consistently hearing feedback about this lack of parity, we are now supporting additional reminder ad features via the Instagram Marketing API as of August 19, 2024. These features include the ability to reach people on Instagram Reels placement with reminder ads, reminding people over the right time period, and adding events to ads optimizing for thruplay or reach.
We appreciate the feedback received from our developer community and their clients, and hope to continue improving the reminder ads experience available via Marketing API.
About Instagram reminder ads
Instagram reminder ads help advertisers bridge the gap between promotion and launch time by encouraging people interested to set reminders. People who opt-in receive reminders when it matters most before the event.
About reaching people on Instagram Reels placement
Instagram reminder ads can now be delivered to Instagram Feed, Stories, and Reels placement when created using Instagram Marketing API. This change allows developers to reach people on Instagram Reels placement with their reminder ads.
About reminding people over the right time period
Instagram reminder ads use “event start time” and “date” to determine when reminders are delivered. This change allows developers to configure the timing of reminder notifications for event subscribers through the Instagram API.
About adding events to ads optimizing for Thruplay or Reach
Developers can also use “event start time” and “date” to surface relevant information on other ad types and determine when reminders are delivered. This change allows developers to add events to ads optimizing for thruplay or reach in the Marketing API. This allows people to see relevant details about your event and set reminders for it from the in-app browser.
